I have been married for 42 years. I am the proud mother of three very successful grown children, and an even prouder grandma. I taught kindergarten-third grade and students with disabilities for 34 years in Clarkston, Michigan. After many successful years as a classroom teacher, I used the knowledge and experience I gained to empower the next generation of educators in my role as a professor at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. For ten years, I taught the pedagogy of teaching reading, writing and language arts, as well as supervising education majors during their student teaching experience.

In addition, for the past 17 years, I have been the owner and operator of Excel Academics, a highly successful tutoring center in Clarkston, Michigan.
Education has always been and will continue to be a large part of my life. I am an advocate of teaching the whole child, and I am passionate about promoting and engaging in an eco-friendly, sustainable educational program. I am excited to bring both my experience as an elementary classroom teacher and at the collegiate level to the Governing Board of Creative Inspiration Journey School.
